Torus’ metal, rigid, and plastic packaging measurement solutions for food, beverage, & medical go global.

Industrial Physics, a leading test and measurement instrument provider, has acquired Torus Group, a UK-based expert in quality control measurement systems and metrology.

Torus Group, known for its strong portfolio in measurement for metal and rigid packaging in the food and beverage industries, recently expanded into plastic packaging and medical devices. The acquisition extends Torus’ reach and Industrial Physics’ portfolio of measurement equipment, metrology services, and machine enclosure support.

In making the announcement, Barry Lyon, CEO of Industrial Physics, noted the need for reliable and high-quality test and measurement solutions amid “rapid development across the packaging industry. Lyon joined Industrial Physics last July when the global investment firm KKR acquired it from private equity firm Union Park Capital. Immediately before that, he served as president of microbiology for Beckman Coulter, a global clinical diagnostics company.
