RFID Division  of Avery Dennison Gets New VP

Avery Dennison Corporation announced the appointment of John J. “Jack” Farrell Jr. to the position of vice president and general manager, RFID Division. Farrell will be based in the RFID Division’s headquarters in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
In his new role, Farrell will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of the Company’s fast growing RFID business, which is the largest producer of UHF inlays in the world. Farrell replaces Robert Cornick, who recently was named vice president and general manager of the Company’s Printer Systems Division.
“Jack brings a wealth of managerial experience to the RFID business, which is just beginning to take hold in Europe and the U.S.,” said Dean A. Scarborough, president and chief executive officer. “Every day we are seeing new applications and uses for RFID and our business has quadrupled during the last year. In this important role, Jack will define and execute plans to identify application-based markets and develop and implement strategies for accessing them; grow the RFID business with profitable initiatives that leverage the Company’s competitive advantages; and enhance revenue-building relationships within a fast-paced, evolving market.”
Farrell joins Avery Dennison after two years as senior merger and acquisition advisor to private equity firms, including GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC. From 2004-2006, he was president and chief executive officer of PSC, Inc., a major manufacturer of Data Capture products including RFID readers. He has also held senior executive positions with Axian Broadband, Scientific Atlanta, EMS Technologies, OKI Telecom and General Electric Co.
Farrell earned his B.S. in Education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and his M.B.A. from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He is a member of the executive advisory board for Ohio University’s business school and a member of the board of Glacier Computer.
