Sustainability: Pillows made from recycled bottles
Here's a new product that makes interesting use of plastic bottles. Hollander Home Fashions, which makes one-third of all the pillows sold in the U.S., has come up with an eco-friendly pillow stuffed with recycled soda bottles. Each Natural Elements pillow contains up to 40 bottles, processed into fill and contained inside an unbleached, non-dyed, soft-to-the-touch cotton shell.

Report: Packaging machinery market in China
The food industry is the largest market for packaging machinery in China. Food related applications are expected to strengthen their already dominant market position as changes in lifestyle trends and types of employment, increasing urbanization and growing personal income levels fuel consumption of convenience and other packaged food products. Demand for equipment used to package medical, pharmaceutical and personal care products is also projected to rise at an above-average rate through 2011.

Vita Coco now available in new one-liter size
Vita Coco, the original coconut water brand and one of the fastest-growing lifestyle beverages in the nation, today introduced a new one-liter size into mass retail. Prior to this, the Vita Coco beverage brand was sold only in an 11.2-oz size, in Tetra Pak. "It's fitting that we close out a big year by offering a bigger size," says Michael Kirban, co-founder of Vita Coco. He continues: "This has been Vita Coco's best year ever at retail, and it's because our brand meets the growing consumer demand for coconut water. We received repeated requests from gym-fanatics and athletes for Vita Coco in a larger size and that's what we've given them."

Japan food industry beset by food labeling crisis
Over the past few months, not a day has passed in Japan without reports in the media about Japanese food makers tampering with use-by dates on their products in attempts to resell leftovers. Mislabeling has been found in every corner of the food industry, from up-market restaurant group Senba Kitcho and Akafuku, the centuries-old maker of Akafukumochi sweets, to major confectionery maker Fujiya Co. and fast food chain McDonald's Holdings Co. (Japan). The seemingly endless list of scandals has not only jeopardized consumer trust in food date labels but also led food makers to reconsider how long their products actually ought to last.
