Friday Morning Cool

Posted by Seth Rosner on May 16, 2008
There is no shortage of new products out there and here are a couple that you can pass around and impress your friends.

Overall the coolest thing I have seen this week, by far, has to be this snap-on ice cream float called The Fizz Cup It attaches to the top of any standard soft drink top, screws into place.  After you provide the ice cream, you can push the soft drink up through the ice cream to have all the taste and none of the mess.  (via ShinyShiny) See in action here.

Gadgets and Frivolity

Posted by Seth Rosner on March 11, 2008
In surfing the web, I find all kinds of gadgets.  Some useful, some thought provoking and some I cannot figure out where the rational came from.  Take for instance this idea: someone decided to reinvent the light switch.  This time, wirelessly.  Sure it saves having to muck about with wires, but did we need a new light switch?  For $250, no less?  Apparently.  At least the presentation - Deal or No Deal style  in the Lucite box - must account for some of that expense.  ...Read More

Yeah, It's Cold, But Does It Sing?

Posted by Seth Rosner on September 28, 2007
It's a floor wax! It's a dessert topping. No actualy it is neither. BUT this is a mini-fridge. It DOES have a CD player built in. What more could you ask for, right? How about a digital FM radio with a built in snooze alarm??? But wait, there's more!!! It also has a headphone jack so you can plug in to listen AND iPOD or MP3 Player compatible as well... What else could you want? Order now, and they will throw in a Remote Control.... for your mini fridge. Oh yeah, it keeps stuff cold too!

Friday's Roundup

Posted by Seth Rosner on September 21, 2007
OK, is there such a thing as technology going to far? I have friends who swear by the "warmth" of sound that vinyl records provide as opposed to CD's. No one says VHS is better than DVD. Still, I cannot see this being a good thing. A Japanese toy maker, Bandai, has come up with an electronic gadget called Mugen Puchi Puchi that simulates the sound of bubble wrap bubbles being popped. And for added kicks, one out of 100 times pressed, it make a rude noise.

Innovative Ideas

Posted by Seth Rosner on September 19, 2007
What a great idea. You have you identified your audience, you have picked the message, now what should you use as a delivery mechanism? Marketers have always struggled with this concept, from ads in toilet stalls to subway walls to a little tv as you wait in line to check out at the grocery store. Every once in a while you see an idea that is just brilliant. And not just because that is their latest marketing slogan either. Check out this new idea from Guiness (picture from scaryideas.com)
Here's a really fun and interesting way to package a useful item. A coffee table book that come...Read More

Brought To You By the Letter B

Posted by Seth Rosner on September 17, 2007
Ever find weird things in packaging and logos? I was reading an article last week about Toblerone chocolates and how there was a hidden image in their logo. I have been eating Toblerone for years now and always just glanced at the mountain scene in the corner, never knowing that in that scene was hidden - a bear. Can you see it?
Pretty cool picture set. This guy, Stephen Fleming, ...Read More

The Latest and Greatest

Posted by Seth Rosner on September 13, 2007
You never know what is going to become huge. Crocs, the latest trend in foot wear was designed to be a boating shoe. Light weight, waterproof, and now it is blowing up. Not only are celebrities wearing them all over the place, but the NFL is offering them in team colors. Not only that but they are being rumored to be teaming up with the other inexplicable fashion trend - Uggs to create Cruggs, a fur lined version. Also, Crocs are spinning off their line of shoes and trying their hand at apparel now as well. Another interesting use of packaging. This time someone came up with a way to ...Read More

Good to the last drop

Posted by Seth Rosner on August 24, 2007
Legos that are used to build more legos. I am pretty sure this is the start of the Terminator movies and where the robots start taking over. This guy used the Lego's Mindstorm Robots to build an assembly line that builds other legos. It is a fully functioning autonomous assembly line, and pretty damn clever. See the video here
This is just kinda cool. Someone put a juicer on top of a ceramic pitcher. I know sometimes I am amazed by the simplest things, but sometimes, I am ve...Read More

Packaging.. on a stick!

Posted by Seth Rosner on August 21, 2007
Cardboard to stop speeders? Well, not just any cardboard, but Andy Miller is being used with his scowl and menacing radar gun showing, to hopefully curb speeding in his state.
In researching different uses for cardboard, other than to eat - I remembered I had once seen a man make an entire apartm...Read More

The Future is Now!!!

Posted by Seth Rosner on August 17, 2007
Need to get a message to Obi Wan? Only he can save you? Finally there may be a way. Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has come up with the world's first 3d image projector. It basically uses lasers to heat particles in the air causing them to give off light. See? Simple. Now go build your own.
Who hasn't been waiting for this? September 12th is officially Conception Day in Russia. It has been declared a national holiday for the purpose of helping grow the population. Even better, 9 months later on July 12th, there will be prizes to the sucessful families. Cars, washers, driers and more. Kinda cool: Some of the ...Read More

Monday Gadget Roundup

Posted by Seth Rosner on August 13, 2007
Sometimes, taking an idea and repackaging it can change the way the world views the product. Sometimes, people just enjoy a simple modification that sets your item apart from all the others out there. Everyone likes to be unique. If you are one of the tens of thousands who jumped to get an iPhone and now you are looking at how to set yours apart from others in your home, office or school, look no further than Miniot. They have a line of wood iPhone covers that come out looking really really nice. They bring a touch of the past to the technology of the future. If you are one of the millions who did NOT get the iPhone, there is this c...Read More

Friday Freak Show

Posted by Seth Rosner on August 10, 2007
OK, so everyone loves the iPhone. No wait, i still dislike it and all it stands for :) But this one guy likes it so much and has fingers too large to use the blasted thing. So what does he do? What any sane person would do... No wait, strike that. He does what a crazy person would do. He has surgery called - whittling - to narrow his thumbs to better use HIS IPHONE!!!! Seriously. He should just do what i do (click to see)
